Of all the cool tech things I have worked on since founding Above nearly 10 years ago, I think the thing which excites me the most is.........serial number scanning into SolarGain! It's probably one of the simplest pieces of technology we have developed, albeit incredible in its simplicity and accuracy, but proportionally I believe creates the most long term value of all our data services.

Anyone who has had their ear bent by me about this will hopefully be familiar with the 'magic' that that gets created once the module SNs have been scanned AND the factory flash test and EL data uploaded to SolarGain, Above's market leading digital twin platform.
However, I feel compelled to make this post to ensure the 'word is spread'. The way in which this rich set of module data ties together the characteristics, the quality and the origins of the largest capex element of any solar farm into a thread of intelligence is pure brilliance. The beneficiaries and the recipients of the value created spans the entire life of the plant, from factory, to field, to table, to operations, to repowering. From the module purchaser, to the EPC, the asset acquirer, the asset manager and the O&M, they can all reap the rewards from this rich seam of intelligence.

What perplexes me most is that today EPC contracts are still being signed with this vital piece of scope missing or so poorly defined that it results in almost zero value beyond simply evidencing what arrived on site.

One simple task carried out using the right tools can lead to boundless and timeless value.
